Situated in a quaint old back square, in the centre of Reykjavik is the new boutique Sand Hotel.

Encompassing Reykjavik’s rich heritage, the past meets the future, reflected by warm colours, modern interiors with traditional touches. Rooms are comfortable, spacious and elegantly decorated in art deco-style with great attention to detail, from quality fabrics, soft furnishings, light wooden floors, and well-equipped contemporary marble bathrooms.

The laid-back lounge area provides the perfect way to relax with a complimentary coffee and a selection of books to choose from with some books including those written by the Icelandic writer and Nobel laureate Halldór Laxness who once lived in one of the houses that now make up part of the hotel.

The new restaurant is run by the bakers of Sandholt bakery, renowned as one of Iceland’s best bakeries and is an integral part of the community at Sandhotel. Its laid-back quality food is the ethos and philosophy of the restaurant. Guests can enjoy a continental breakfast including freshly baked pastries, breads and home-made jams.

A number of trips can be arranged from the hotel including the popular Golden Circle route, visiting historic Viking settlements, relaxing in the steaming mineral rich springs of the Blue Lagoon to discovering Iceland’s diverse and dramatic landscapes including the Gullfoss Waterfall or Þingvellir National Park, to get a taste of Iceland’s charms.

At Sand Hotel every effort is made to ensure guests have a unique and memorable stay and get the opportunity to enjoy the vibrant cultural life of Reykjavík.
