Ostuni

Famous for its whitewashed houses Ostuni is one of the more famous cities in Southern Italy. The name Ostuni comes from the Greek "new city" which was first used after the construction and has maintained its name since.

Atop a hill with views of the endless olive trees in the Valle d’Itria countryside and the glimmering Adriatic Sea, the city was built without any plans which has created a webbed maze of alleyways, staircases and arches which gives the city such individual quirks.

Ostuni also has plenty of lovely restaurants and bars tucked away, and there is a local market every Saturday morning, with stalls selling produce and crafts. It is close to many other popular towns in the area, as well as the coastline, so is an excellent base for your stay in Puglia.
