Day 1:

Fly into Naples & travel for approximately an hour before arriving in Sorrento at the wonderful Villa Garden for your first 3 nights. Situated in the residential Sant’Agnello, about 3km from Sorrento’s centre, the Hotel Villa Garden, with a small promenade opposite, has uninterrupted views of the Bay of Naples and Vesuvius and is the perfect spot to visit the Amalfi Coast.

If you love nature, walking, swimming and beautiful beaches, this part of the Sorrento Peninsula is certainly for you. A protected marine park, the coast boasts some of the most beautiful beaches of the Amalfi Coast and Sorrento Peninsula.

This itinerary allows you to visit unmissable sights, such as Sorrento, Pompeii & Herculaneum.

You can usually hire boats or book a ride on one of the trips, which take you to fabulous beaches, close by, which can only be reached by sea, or to Capri, which can be reached in less than half an hour. There are also some footpaths to other stunning coves, which are well worth the effort of discovering. All in all, this is a slice of paradise and Long Travel clients have been returning year on year for a spot of tranquillity.

Day 4:

Make your way to  Maratea for 3 nights to explore its spectacular coasts. You will stay at the Hotel Villa Cheta, an elegant Art Nouveau boutique hotel in Acquafredda Di Maratea, Basilicata known for its incredible food, offering you the chance to savour delicate flavours and tantalising dishes, and the list of Italian wines, are a dream. Head Inland to the Pollino National Park & enjoy superb food. The Pollino National Park is over 2200 meters above sea level and gives incredible views of the Tyrrhenian coasts of Maratea, Praia a Mare, Belvedere and the Ionic Coast of Sibari to Metaponto.

The pearl of the Tyrrhenian sea – beautiful Maratea makes for a momentous day trip from the Villa Cheta Hotel. Also referred to as the town with 44 churches it has such variety in its landscape. If you can find a spare few hours visit the beach of Di Fiumicello with its crystal azure sea and rocky coves, its great during a sunset.

Day 8:

Your final 2 nights are spent at the Hotel Giordano, a stylish family hotel in Ravello, boasting enviable views of the Amalfi Coast and a fantastic location close to the main square.

The town of Ravello has now become known as ‘la citta della musica’ the city of music and Villa Rufolo has been the centre of an annual summer concert series that features piano concerts, chamber music and a grand orchestral performance on stage built overlooking the sea and rugged Amalfi Coast below. Make sure you catch the Ravello Concerts at Villa Rufolo which take place between the 26th of March to the 2nd of December this year.

As for Villa Cimbrone it dates back to the 11th Century and is famous for its scenic belvedere, the ‘Terrazzo Dell’Infinito’ – The terrace of Infinity. The origins of its name come from the rocky outcrop on which it stands: this was part of a large estate with lush vegetation covering over eight hectares that was known as “Cimbronium”. These places have so much history through their gardens you have to discover them for yourself, it is worth a visit to one or both on your trip!

Day 10:

On your final night indulge in a fabulous meal at the Villa Maria, which seems, to us here at Long Travel, to be a particularly good arrangement, as it has a very good reputation for the quality of the food, the attentive service and the wonderful atmosphere – especially when you can dine outside, overlooking the bay of Ravello, with lights twinkling in the distance. Oh, so romantic! The gentle stroll, about five minutes up a stepped path from Hotel Giordano, does wonders for your appetite, and gravity helps, on the way back down!
