Athens, the capital of Greece and home to some of the most fascinating ancient landmarks in the world offers a fusion of ancient and modern history, culture and tradition.
Being present in one of the most ancient cities in the world, you will be able to take a walk back in the past to 600BC through the visiting of archaeological museums, hidden caves and traditional cafés.
An overnight stay will ensure that you can either utilise the luxurious facilities or take a stroll through the cobbled Grecian streets for the authentic tastes that the flavoursome restaurants have to offer .
Day 2: EMBARK TO NAXOS
Your driver will be at hand to transfer you from your hotel to Piraeus Port where you will embark on a short ferry ride to Naxos, starting your dream holiday.
Once at Naxos Port, a driver will transfer you to the secluded Villa Marandi Hotel. With a whopping five days in the largest and greenest island of all the Cyclades, there are many things to see and do.
A magnificent symbol of Naxos today is known as the unfinished Apollo Temple which served as a quarry in the Byzantine times with its marbled columns and blocks shaped into a towering doorway. It is said that the wondrous place where this incomplete temple was built is called the Palatia, a palace for Ariadne, a Cretan princess whose spirit is thought by islanders to roam this sacred island on moonlit nights.
If seeking panoramic views and long scenic walks then do visit the unique Cedar Forest of Alyko, the most heavenly beach in Greece and the perfect getaway for relaxation and nature enthusiasts.
Naxos is very well known for its striking museums displaying excavated artwork and other artefacts from the Prehistoric era (4th millennium BC) right to the Ottoman occupation in 1829 which can be viewed at the famous Archaeological Museum of Naxos.
Awaken your taste buds at an authentic Greek taverna, O Giorgis, offering an exquisite culinary journey of mouth-watering fresh foods, the restaurants speciality ‘lamb stifado’ and a spectacular view of the picturesque mountains along with the beautiful Kournochori village.
