Edged with long, high and rocky coasts, Sardinia offers an incredible stay, boasting the Med’s most seductive beaches, a beautiful, mountainous interior, and a fantastic array of both traditional and contemporary restaurants to enjoy. Stunning coastlines, dramatic mountains, white sandy beaches and limpid turquoise seas.
Located in the Mediterranean, the French island of Corsica is not as over developed and busy as one would maybe expect, meaning there are fantastic opportunities to explore its stunning and undiscovered beauty. Due to its close proximity to Sardinia it makes a fantastic location for a multi-centre experience allowing you to enjoy flavours of both Italy and France, or of course Corsica makes a fantastic standalone destination due to its amazing scenery, beautiful beaches with rocky coves and incredible harbour towns.
With 1000km of coastline, white sand and crystal-clear blue water to the heartland of the island, harnessing the most magnificent scenery of forests, gorges and beautiful villages perched high in the rugged mountains, we know you will just love your time in Corsica.
Day 1: Arrive at Olbi airport and pick up your hire car and head to your first hotel Su Gologone. The drive will be around 1.5 hours.
Su Gologone is an amazing and unique boutique hotel in Oliena, Sardinia. It offers guests a gourmet stay in a spectacular spot.
Inland, in the east of Sardinia, little villages like Oliena, which still retain the old Sardinian traditions and crafts, are surrounded by steep-sided hills, caverns, gorges and lakes, more reminiscent of Scotland (with sunshine!). Set amongst this spectacular, mountain scenery, on the edge of the National Park, yet only about half an hour from the sea and beautiful beaches, the unique Hotel Su Gologone is something of a surprise.
Famous throughout Italy for its restaurant, the boutique Hotel Su Gologone serves amazing, traditional and typical Sardinian food. Long Travel guests will enjoy what must be the most authentic experience of Sardinian cuisine on their stay at the Hotel Su Gologone. Whether it is breakfast, dinner or lunch, enormous effort and skill go into producing and serving their food, with meals cooked and baked in the hotel Su Gologone’s own kitchens. No visit to Sardinia can really be complete without, at least, a visit to the countryside Hotel Su Gologone for lunch!
Colourful, stylish and individual, with lovely little touches everywhere, the boutique Hotel Su Gologone has an inner courtyard, with accommodation in five two-storey buildings where no one room is the same as another, each designed by a different local Sardinian artist. Wonderful antiques furnish Su Gologone’s characterful and comfortable public rooms, which are filled with Sardinian art and locally crafted artefacts. Around every corner, there is always something to fascinate and please the eye, including an absolute profusion of flowers, climbers, trees and shrubs in the gardens and on the terraces of Hotel Su Gologone
The delightful swimming pool of the agritouristic Hotel Su Gologone sits on a sunny, lawned terrace, which has glorious views over the surrounding countryside of Oliena. Delicious light lunches are usually served near the pool, in a lovely gazebo area, close to the pool. The open air jacuzzi, on an elevated corner of the terrace, is a real treat for a romantic escape with a loved one. There are also tennis courts, bikes, table-tennis and a small gym for those who are not too full up from all the delicious food at the Hotel Su Gologone.
Boutique Hotel Su Gologone’s lovely owner, is very passionate about the “real” Sardinia and its traditions. Her “Artisan quarter” welcomes Long Travel guests to watch artists and artisans at work and to buy their goods. Various “tasting” experiences which Long Travel offer include wine, olive oil, tea, typical Sardinian bread, and so on-promote the real tastes of Sardinian food on offer at Hotel Su Gologone.
The Hotel Su Gologone’s Terrace of Dreams, is where you can see the stars through a telescope, in the company of expert astronomers – a magical and extremely romantic evening. These are a few of the innovative ideas of the Hotel Su Gologone and are ones, which help to make a stay at the boutique Hotel so memorable and unique. Many Long Travel guests are regulars and friendly staff offer a warm welcome to everyone. Delightful accommodation, very special food, trekking, visiting Sardinia’s beautiful beaches, exploring the mountains or relaxing in the tranquillity of this extraordinary landscape – Hotel Su Gologone in Oliena has it all.
Day 5: Depart Su Gologone and head back to Olbia airport where you will drop your car and then pick up your transfer to your next fantastic Sardinian Hotel Villa Del Golfo.
The drive back to Olbia airport will be around 1.5 hours and then your subsequent transfer time to Villa Del Golfo will be around 35 minutes.
Relais Villa Del Golfo is a boutique beach hotel in Cannigione, Sardinia. Think secret hideaway, think love nest, think luxury and you have the beautiful luxurious Relais Villa Del Golfo.
Set in an elevated position, close to a rather upmarket residential area and a 15-minute stroll to the resort of Cannigione, Boutique Hotel Relais Villa Del Golfo overlooks the sweeping bay. The deep blue of the sea, bordered by grassy areas and pinewoods, is a breath-taking panorama, inescapable from almost every corner of the Hotel Relais Villa Del Golfo. Like a traditional village, built into the hillside, colonnaded pathways meander between the low-rise “cottages” and terracotta roofs and it bursts with colour and romance.
Modern and with real style, the unique Relais Villa Del Golfo is quintessentially Sardinian, shouting about its heritage with typical colours, décor, furnishings and finishes, but with a modern twist. The light, usually painted, wooden furniture is so obviously from Sardinia, full of character, of exceptionally good quality and extremely tasteful. Fascinating artefacts sit perfectly against background hues of white, pastel colours, cool and marine blues and warm corals. Such a pleasing harmony and attention to detail give Relais Villa Del Golfo a swish elegance and a luxurious feel.
The fabulous pool of the boutique Relais Villa Del Golfo sits on a stunning terrace, with a beautiful panorama of the sea. Past Long Travel clients think it is the perfect place to relax on the comfy sofas, by the bar. Relais Villa Del Golfo’s pretty Miraluna restaurant is well known for its barbecue grill and excellent Mediterranean cuisine. It spills out onto the terraces and is very tempting at lunchtime, or for a romantic candlelit dinner. We at Long Travel thoroughly enjoy the food and are impressed by the creative cuisine. With Long Travel you can also arrange a Sardinian food experience with the Relais Villa Del Golfo for a real indulgent holiday to Italy.
More relaxation is to be had at the Relais Villa Del Golfo, pop across the road (about 200m), through the pines, to the hotel Relais Villa Del Golfo’s bathing platform, or take the complimentary shuttle to one of the larger beaches nearby the Relais Villa Del Golfo, with light golden sand, crystal transparent sea and more colours of blue, turquoise and translucent emerald green than you could ever imagine.
An absolute must is a trip out on the luxurious Relais Villa Del Golfo’s own private yacht. What a treat! It all feels rather exclusive. Captain Francesco will take you to stunning coves and bays, which you would otherwise probably never discover. He will stop off in some enchanted, secluded bay for you to have a swim and a spot of lunch on board. The unique Relais Villa Del Golfo in Cannigione is not to be missed and has been a Long Travel favourite for many years.
