Nadia's trip to the Amalfi Coast…

"One of my fondest holiday memories is a week’s trip to Italy’s gorgeous Amalfi Coast. Where I stayed in the coastal town of Sorrento at the Hotel Villa Garden. A lovely boutique hotel that provides the perfect base to explore Sorrento and the surrounding area.

Sorrento is a bustling town known for its spectacular coastal views across the bay of Naples and Mount Vesuvius. A visit to the town’s main square Piazza Tasso, which is situated a short walk from the Hotel Villa Garden, is a must for any visitor. The square is lined with an array of alfresco cafes, bars and authentic restaurants - ideal for an evening people watching, whilst you enjoy the charm and ambience of this delightful town.

During my trip, I visited the former sleepy fishing village of Marina Grande. The perfect place to spend an evening watching the Sunset over Mount Vesuvius, as you enjoy a cold glass of Lacryma Christ and a beautiful fresh fish platter, in one of the authentic restaurants that overlook the harbour.

One of my favourite days out was catching the catamaran from Marina Grande to the archaeological site of Herculaneum, a roman town lost to the eruption of Vesuvius in 79 AD. I spent the morning exploring the ruins, mosaics and houses of Herculaneum that will take you back in time to 7th BC. In the afternoon I climbed the slopes of Mount Vesuvius to experience the wonderful views across the national park, from the top of this beautiful volcano. Please note, a cold beer or glass of wine is required after all that sightseeing!

Another memorable day out was a boat trip to Positano and Amalfi to visit the medieval Roman Catholic Cathedral in the Piazza Del Duomo. Where I enjoyed the stunning coastal views, delicious Tiramisu at a Pasticceria in the Piazzo Del Duomo and the boutique shops of Positano.

The Amalfi Coast really does have all the ingredients for a memorable holiday…”
