Masseria Bosco has huge character and personality, it is massively popular with our Long Travel clients, for its amazing and abundant cuisine. It is just fabulous and that’s a fact!

The family friendly Masseria Bosco is in one of the lesser-known parts of Puglia, in a rural setting, surrounded by 110,000 olive trees, and with a wonderful swimming pool. 2km from Avetrana and more or less equidistant (43km) from Brindisi, Lecce and Taranto, it is perfect for exploring some of the Salento’s “hidden” Puglia, as well as its important historic cities. The beautiful Ionian Sea, with its sandy beaches is also only about 8km away from the agritourist Masseria Bosco.

A great choice for food-lovers, the cuisine at Masseria Bosco, based on local and Pugliese recipes is superb, plentiful and flavoursome. Very well-known locally, the Masseria Bosco has a well-deserved reputation for the fantastic seasonal food it serves, which is often quite unusual and always with the focus very much on ‘slow food’. Still a working farm, with 100 hectares of olive trees, and lemon and orange groves, an uncle cultivates mostly organic vegetables, which end up on the table, in the restaurant of Masseria Bosco.

The restaurant in Masseria Bosco, has a star-vaulted, stone ceiling and stone walls (spot the fossils!), solid wooden furniture and typically Pugliese tableware, creating a really authentic atmosphere and giving just the sort of rustic experience that the owners of the relaxing masseria are aiming for. In summer, dinner and sometimes the buffet breakfast, are served on an outside stone colonnaded terrace.

Bedrooms at Masseria Bosco have original vaulted ceilings, exposed stone, traditionally tiled floors, earthy warm colours, complimented by powerfully-coloured, bright ceramic tiles. The furniture is a mixture of locally crafted, classic ironwork and “arte povera” wood and antiques, which gives the rooms a real rustic elegance.

Against a backdrop of agricultural land and thousands of silvery green olive trees, the 18th century Masseria Bosco’s mellow, yellowish stone, seems to glow in any light. Sister hotelMasseria Strazzati, 700 metres through the olive groves, is similar in style and both ooze character.

“We were overwhelmed by Lucrezia’s welcome and helpfulness. She took us under her wing and showed us so much – the dairy at Nardo, where the cheeses are produced for the restaurant; “pick, cook & eat “, taking us to a “weed patch ” to forage for herbs; teaching us a fantastic pasta recipe (which we then had for dinner); a trip to the vineyards and plenty more besides.

“Can’t recommend it enough – the people, food and wine are superb. Be warned though, the wine is extremely drinkable, but some of it is 16%!!” Malcolm & June, Isle of Wight

“What a dream –fantastic place for food, pool, cleanliness, staff – everything was perfect! We borrowed their bikes and cycled round the 110,000 olive trees, what a treat!” Derek & Sherry, Reading
