Unique style & location, gracious & grand, with an amazing spa & heated indoor pool. Helen thinks any visit to Villa Las Tronas feels like a special occasion - "there's something wonderful about sitting on your own large terrace, a deep red glass of Cannonau in your hand, watching the crystal azure sea lap gently onto the rocks."
Built in 1880, and once the summer home of Italian royalty, this old villa stands on its own private rocky promontory, seeming well away from the rest of the world. With uninterrupted views of the coast and old Alghero, which is only about 800m away, Villa Las Tronas stands proud and is a landmark of the area. Staying here is like reliving the elegance and slow pace of life of a bygone era.
With access to Villa Las Tronas and its grounds carefully controlled, this is a real haven of peace and tranquillity. Drive through its gardens to reach the hotel, which has sea on all other sides of it - a really incredible spot. A family of cormorants has visited it for years, so they appreciate this special place too!!
The sea-water swimming pool is right on the sea and is a perfect place to relax. Spend some time on the Villa Las Tronas large lawned terrace, with its shady seating area, sunbathe to the sound of the sea and the birds, or do some sea-fishing off the rocks. The only drawback is that you may never want to move from this stunning spot.
The excellent gym, small beauty centre and amazing spa have the crowning glory of a splendid indoor heated pool as the focal point, making Villa Las Tronas a great choice for winter breaks, too.
Inside, Villa Las Tronas is as you might imagine a grand old villa should be. Furnished with antiques, in a style that is simultaneously Italianate and classically English, it oozes character and grandeur. Many bedrooms have ornate and huge, brass, silvered or iron beds. Others have beautifully carved or classically simple wooden bedsteads. There is a spectacular suite. Our rooms usually have sea-view. Some rooms also have terraces, which are well worth the extra expense, because they are generally enormous.
On the fringe of being eccentric in the nicest possible way, a stay at Villa Las Tronas feels like staying with friends, in a fine old villa. Hinting at the elegance, luxury and slow pace of life of a bygone era, we adore staying here and dining in the wonderful Alghero - it is just a short stroll to some wonderful bars, trattorie and restaurants. We always love to return.

The third floor of the hotel has been entirely given over to three fabulous suites… all with sea-view and enormous terraces - they have to be seen to be believed!
