Only about 10 minutes drive from Bari airport and the city's historic centre, Terranobile is extremely conveniently located, just off the motorway, so that guests do not have to negotiate the busy city streets, if they have a car. It's a perfect place to choose if you have no car, too.

 

A classic example of its period, this is a truly beautiful villa. Built in 1898 as a nobleman's home, it is set in lovely gardens and extensive grounds of secular olive trees, majestic palms and other mature trees. Now an impressive small boutique hotel, it retains all of the refinement and elegance of its bygone days and it is a real jewel, on the edge of this fascinating city.

 

Small and intimate, with a personal and warm welcome, a stay here is like being a guest in someone's rather grand home. Logically, such a stunning place, with a superb local reputation for its food, is always going to be a popular venue for business meetings, weddings and functions, but these tend to be quite "high-end " affairs, which only add to the interest of staying in such a special city hotel.

 

Guests can eat in the one of the cosy restaurant rooms or in the air-conditioned conservatory. The particularly inventive chef creates delicious dishes, recognisably Pugliese and Italian, but often with a surprising twist. The "cellar " is another charming dining option for guests. Bedrooms are comfortable and tasteful. The Classic rooms, furnished with antique and period pieces, are on the villa's ground floor. Deluxe rooms, in the eaves of the first floor, have a more contemporary feel and are delightful. Garden rooms are near the pool, and have a private courtyard.

 

Immersed in the greenery of Mediterranean trees and shrubs, paths through rockeries lead to a magnificent swimming pool and ample terraces, perfect for relaxing. This is a pool with a difference. In it there are whirlpool beds and there is even a bar "in the pool " - what an appealing idea, a glass of champagne or a refreshing cocktail, whilst sitting partly underwater, at the bar! And another thing - don't be surprised if the pool changes colour! Wow!

 

The spa and "Health Club " is equally stunning. There is a sauna, Turkish bath, Vichy shower and a small and exquisite indoor pool and jacuzzi. All sorts of massages and treatments will tempt you to relax. Book the "Relax Path " before you go, so that your total relaxation is already planned.

Wide avenues and two lovely squares, Piazza Mercantile and Piazza Ferrarese, teem with chic bars, sophisticated restaurants and traditional trattorie. The city is famous for its food, so you can eat extremely well and the prices are extraordinarily good. In the evenings, the city comes alive, with typically Italian sophisticated street life and vibrant night life. Or just take a gentle stroll along the long promenade, on the sea-front.
