An agritourist hotel like no other, only 5km from Paestum's temples and the sea, is this working country estate of over 200 acres. Two brothers, Ettore and Massimino Baratta run the estate and Tenuta Seliano, ably helped by their great friend, and ours, the adorable Nicolas, and under the occasional watchful eye of Mum, the Baroness Cecilia Baratta.
Dating back to the 1800's, Tenuta Seliano's main house and farm buildings have great character, a rustic elegance evoking gracious country living, from a different epoch. Bedrooms, in the main courtyard or in an attractive, one-storey building, with five ground floor rooms, in the garden and near the pool, are charmingly rustic. The pool, sunbathing terraces and the large covered verandah, close by, are well furnished and perfect for relaxing.
The food at Tenuta Seliano is based on fresh farm produce and guests eat delicious traditional meals, often at one large dining table, on occasion with the Baratta's own family and friends, and often, on the lovely outdoor terrace. With their own herd of 900 buffalo, kept at their other property, Masseria Eliseo, there is lots of tasty fresh mozzarella. Wine and water are included with lunch and dinner - both (!) are VERY drinkable. These are particularly convivial and memorable evenings - a chance to meet folk from all over the world, make new friendships and have a great time. We always do. In fact, it was at Tenuta Seliano that we met our wonderful guide from Rome, Marina. So many of our clients have used her services since then and have taken to her as much as we did.
The atmosphere, friendly and informal, feels like a relaxed stay with friends (and their dogs - lots of them!!). More "laid-back " than attentive, guests are left to their own devices and are more than welcome to wander around and make themselves at home. It's great!
We have worked with Tenuta Seliano for years and it is a great favourite of ours. We love to go and stay there ourselves - Ray and Annie would go there any time, at the drop of a hat - and our clients love it, too.

Bedrooms are in the main courtyard or in an attractive, one-storey building, which has five ground floor rooms, in the garden and near the pool. They are full of character, charmingly rustic, perfectly fitting Tenuta Seliano's gracious country house style.
Quirky (in a good way!!), each room is a little different, featuring interesting little knick knacks the family have collected over the years - classic artwork, beautiful copper and brass fittings, and period wooden furniture.
Comfortable and spacious, some of the rooms are suitable for up to 5 guests, making Tenuta Seliano a great option for families as well as couples.
Rooms are sometimes offered in the Baratta's Masseria Eliseo, when Tenuta Seliano is full. A restored farmhouse, also run as an agritourist hotel, approximately 5km from Tenuta Seliano and the sea, it is on their buffalo farm and guests will certainly have a unique experience. Buffalo are wonderful creatures. We love them and would always be delighted to stay at this masseria - a real working farm. However, if you do not like farms and farm animals, this is not the choice for you.
