A long weekend in Italy is only a short flight away. Stay in the converted monastery, San Francesco al Monte, high above the city of Naples with breathtaking views of Vesuvius. The wonderful rooftop pool is the ideal place to relax after a long day shopping in the designer boutiques of the Piazza dei Martiri area of Naples or taking boat trips around the coast to the famous town of Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast where you are within easy reach of Ravello, Positano and even the islands of Capri and Ischia.

Or, if you just need to relax and really unwind for a few days, there is nowhere better to take a short break than the majestic five star, Villa Las Tronas, once home to Italian royalty, it stands alone on a small promontory jutting out into the sea with an inviting swimming pool. Only a short stroll along the promenade from the old town of Alghero on the north west coast of Sardinia, it's the ideal antidote to a busy life and easily accessible for that long weekend in the sun.
