An historic oasis - stunning views & SUCH good food. Ray & Alison love the San Francesco Al Monte's elegance, food & pool. Laura loves "Vesuvius in moonlight and Naples from above " - the old romantic!
Once a 16th century monastery, this still has the same serene atmosphere. A cool simplicity of long wide corridors, beautiful ornate decoration, pieces of modern art by the famous Robert Rauschenberg, and traditional Italian furnishings, are blended with taste and real style.
The characterful bedrooms, most with wonderful views, are the original monks' cells. The bar is cosy and comfortable. During the long, warm Neapolitan summers, the fourth floor terraces, with their spectacular views, are home to the restaurant, where dinner and breakfast are served. During cooler months the huge expanse of glass make it seem as if diners are still al fresco. Ray and Annie love dining here, as do Neapolitans. The light and inventive cuisine, with the emphasis on supremely fresh ingredients, is appetising, delicious and really quite special. The attentive service and relaxed atmosphere make it the perfect place to relax.
The seventh floor roof garden, with its elegantly furnished terrace, has the most spectacular views of all. Here, a delightful swimming pool flows into a small cave with a cascade. Relax, away from the hustle and bustle, enjoying one of the most breathtaking views in the world.
Connected to the centre, by nearby cable-cars and public transport, it is an ideal base for sightseeing.
NAPLES
How can anyone live without visiting Naples? It is like no other city. It seems to represent the very essence of the South, encapsulating its differences, emphasising its charms and intoxicating its visitors to the point of addiction. Nowhere is Italy's north-south divide more obvious, in some ways escaping the march of time. Do not look for the reserve of the north, the fancy cuisine, the organised driving and modern way of life.
Be prepared to experience another extreme - chaos; emotions on display to the world; businesses which have been in families for generations; wonderfully warm and welcoming people; a simple, healthy cuisine, which, based on the freshest ingredients, speaks for itself; football as a religion; a thriving music scene; fabulous shops; and so very much more. Naples is special, and that's a fact.
San Francesco Al Monte's rooms all have sea-view and have been converted from the ancient monks cells.
Classic rooms are comfortable and stylish and equipped with either Jacuzzi bath or shower.
Executive rooms are larger than classics. These rooms usually have some original features - for example a special, original window or a small terrace. Equipped with either Jacuzzi bath or shower.
Junior Suites are larger still and include a sitting area. These rooms all have Jacuzzi bath and can accommodate up to 4 people.
"By any measure, the San Francesco al Monte is a fine hotel. Accommodation was spectacular, the views and environments were exceptional & the staff very friendly, very helpful, very "Naples ". " Alan, USA
"The Hotel was superb. The views were spectacular across the city, and the bay, towards Vesuvius. All in all, the break was fab and just what the doctor ordered. " Melissa, BICESTER
