Boutique masseria of quality apartments with stunning pool & Gregorio's charm. We all agree, but have to let Helen speak for us all! She loves Masseria Gregorio's attention to detail, the pool, the cappuccinos and THE MAN HIMSELF! Say no more! And…there are ONLY six apartments.
Approximately 7km from Cisternino, almost half-way between Ostuni and Martina Franca, Masseria Gregorio was built in the 17th century and has been in Gregorio's farming family for over a hundred years. A thoroughly disarming young man, whose enthusiasm matches his charm, he has renovated the masseria with a passionate respect for the original building and an admirable lack of compromise on quality. Pugliese stone and wooden and wrought iron country furniture create an ambience, in keeping with the character of the farmhouse and the apartments are delightful.
In a superb rural spot, surrounded by open farmland, with a 1½ hectare wood, there are paths, with resting-places and picnic areas - Gregorio has thought of everything! For generations, his family has farmed olives, grapes, nuts and fruit. Still, today, they use traditional methods of producing the very best olive oil, wine, including excellent primitivo, fresh and dried fruit, pecorino cheese, fresh ricotta, fresh eggs, vegetables in oil, and countless other delights, many of which guests can buy or savour for breakfast, which Xuela from Bristol describes as "ridiculously generous and delicious ", and is included, even though guests self-cater - a quick and easy way to get to know everyone, it is a lovely idea.
The breakfast room/bar at Masseria Gregorio is the welcoming focal point of the masseria and the icing on the cake is the stunning swimming pool. Typically, no expense has been spared and Gregorio has built a pool to be proud of. On a terrace, surrounded by dry stone walls, it is a real treat.
