Volcanoes |

There are not many countries
that can boast such an array of volcanoes. Southern Italy
and Sicily between them can - Vesuvius towering above Naples,
Etna the majestic backdrop to Taormina and the two islands
of Vulcano and Stromboli - have you ever been on
the summit of a volcano?
Spend
time relaxing on your terrace at Hotel Villa Sonia which
has the most fantastic, uninterrupted views of Mount Etna
on Sicily. One of the world's best known volcanoes, snow
capped for most of the year, it's appearance seems to change
whenever you look at it, and the views of the sun setting
behind it are breathtaking - until you experience it, you
cannot immagine how beautiful it is.
Or
why not stay in a restored monastery, the Hotel San Francesco
al Monte, or the family run Hotel Villa Garden, both have
spectacular views across the Bay of Naples, to Mount Vesuvius.
Alternatively,
spend some time at one of our Lipari hotels, you can relax
on the black lava beaches or take day trips to one of the
other six islands, which make up the archipelago. On Vulcano
it is even possible to bathe in mud (!)... apparently it's
theraputic and, on Stromboli you can go on a guided climb
to the summit of the volcano - bear in mind it is still
active!!!
