Trulli Houses and Trulli Hotels |

Trulli
houses are unique - they can only be found in one small
area of Southern Italy - the Itria Valley in Puglia, which
has now been designated a World Heritage Site.
A
holiday in a trullo is an opportunity to really immerse
yourself in the Italian culture and adopt a slow pace of
life for a couple of weeks. Alfresco lunches washed down
with a glass of local wine, afternoons on the beach and
evenings sitting on your terrace, surrounded by olive groves
– life doesn't get much better than this.
In
the heart of Puglia, the Itria Valley is a rolling plateau,
400m above sea level, surrounded by lush countryside, with
an abundance of olive, cherry, almond, pomegranate and a
whole range of other fruit trees and also countless small
vineyards - all splattered with groups of white washed,
conical roofed trulli – an idyllic setting for a holiday.
The countryside is punctuated with pretty mediaeval towns;
Cisternino, Ostuni, Fasano and Monopoli to name just a few,
all with characterful historic centres full of interesting
architecture, shops, bars and family-run trattoria. Alberobello,
the trulli town, is in the heart of the Itria Valley with
a centro storico made up entirely of trulli. They even have
a trullo church! Unusually, some small groups of trulli
in Puglia have been turned into small boutique hotels, perfect
if you want to mix the experience of staying in a trullo
with the facilities and services that only a hotel can offer.
Whether
you want a base from which to explore, you are interested
in the architecture of the trulli, you just love the countryside
or perhaps you want to spend your days on the beach and
evenings eating at wonderful restaurants or barbecuing on
your terrace, trulli are the perfect place to stay - they
really do have something for everyone.
