Trulli Houses |
 |
|
 |
Trulli houses are unique
- they are only found in a small area of Puglia called the
Itria Valley, which has now been designated a World Heritage
Site.
A
stay in a trullo is an opportunity to really immerse yourself
in the Italian culture and adopt a slow pace of life for
a couple of weeks. Al fresco lunches washed down
with a glass of local wine, afternoons on the beach and
evenings sitting on your terrace, surrounded by olive groves
– life doesn't get much better than this.
Situated on a rolling plateau, 400m above sea level, surrounded
by lush countryside, with an abundance of olive, cherry,
almond, pomegranate and a whole range of other fruit trees
and also countless small vineyards - all splattered with
groups of white washed, conical roofed trulli. The countryside
is punctuated with pretty medieval towns with characterful
historic centres full of interesting architecture, shops
and family-run trattoria.
Whether
you want a base from which to explore, you are interested
in the architecture of the building, love the countryside
or want to spend your days on the beach and evenings eating
at wonderful restaurants or barbecuing on your terrace –
they really do have something for everyone.
