Food and Wine of Italy |
 |
|
 |
Enjoy
real Italian food. Many dishes served in Southern Italy,
Sicily and Sardinia are not just regional, they are specific
to just one village! Then of course, there is the wine –
wow! Some of them are the finest you will taste, anywhere
in the world.
Italy
is synonymous with good food and wine, organic produce is
the norm, not the exception, and ‘slow food' is an accepted
practice and has been for many years. Whether you are thinking
of a holiday in Puglia, Calabria, Basilicata, Abruzzo, Molise,
Sicily or Sardinia or any of the other regions in southern
Italy, you will eat and drink as well as you could, anywhere
else in the world. Hand made scialatielli pasta
with seafood from the Amalfi coast; African influenced tuna
with cous-cous from Sicily or the traditional Lucanian cookery,
which is a blend of the dishes and flavours found in Puglia,
Basilicata and Calabria.
Southern
Italy has some fantastic food markets, and many famous chefs
have travelled to the south of Italy, Sicily and Sardinia
in search of fine ingredients and inspiration. So, if you
are self-catering on holiday, pack your recipe books, as
by using such fresh and flavoursome ingredients, you can
easily re-create the authentic Italian dishes cooked by
Jamie Oliver or Rick Stein.
If
you want to experience some of the finest hotel food, we
have a selection of hand-picked properties where you can
experience southern Italian food and wine at its very best.
From
the fantastic antipasti and Salice Salento wines served
at the Masseria Bosco in Puglia to the Porcheddu (pork)
and Cannanau wines, which are regularly served at the Hotel
Su Gologone in Sardinia, and of course, the Fattoria Dell'Uliveto
in Abruzzo who has been part of the Italian slow food movement
for many years and supplied the Ventricina salami for Prince
Charles & Camilla's wedding! We can cater for all tastes.
